Slovenia has a great tradition for hundreds of years in horseback riding and equestrianism. The reason therefore is of course the world-famous cradle of the Lipizzan, who are home at the Lipica stud farm. You can experience Slovenia from the saddle and you can be sure, it is a pleasure. Ride with the horses around fenced farm fields or ask a guide to follow with the horse while riding out into meadows and forests.

Riding is also possible in the Triglav National Park and you will find riding schools and riding farms who offer longer riding tours. They will even offer you also more-day-rides with the horses. Horse loving people should for one time visit the Lipica Stud Farm, where you can see the thoroughbred white Lipizzaner horses have been bred for hundreds of years. There you can also take riding classes and riding lessons or just attend and see one of the horse shows.

If you are a beginner or an advanced rider, you will find riding schools in the whole country of Slovenia. They offer dressage courses, riding lessons for beginners and intermediates and of course you can also take show jumping lessons with the horses.

You will find good riding schools and great places to ride out not only on the west side of the country at the coast of the mediterranean sea, but also in central Slovenia. There are riding stables and riding schools for every level of horseback riding skills. The riding schools and riding academys are in the countryside as well as around the bigger cities of Slovenia like the capital city Ljubljana and Maribor, Ptuj, Koper, Kranj, Nova Gorica or Triglav.

The country of Slovenia is located in temperate latitudes. The climate in Slovenia is influenced by the variety of relief  and also influenced by the geographic position between Alps and the mediterranean sea. While you have mediterranean climate on the south and west at the coast, you have typical continental climate in the center of Slovenia.
