Brian Bodarke has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Ohio State University, with twin majors in Nutrition and Genetics. He has been training horses and riders in hunters/jumpers and dressage since 1978. Born and raised in NYC, Brian competed in the jumper divisions as a junior. He became a professional first working in Calgary, Alberta, near Spruce Meadows. He was there for over a decade watching, learning, and competing against the international riders and horses. Brian began breeding horses in 1985, originally using a stallion that came from the Spruce Meadows breeding program. That stallion, Wynforan, presented him with three daughters that became the foundation mares for his breeding program, Blue Ribbon Breeding. He then introduced Holsteiners into the breeding program and since 1998 has been breeding Holsteiners exclusively. His first Holsteiner filly, Oeuvre, had a Dolany colt, Donaly, that was AHHA National Champion DSHB as both a weanling and a yearling. Donaly was the 2011 CDS Regional Champion as a two year old colt. Another premium mare produced from the breeding program, Showtyme, was AHHA DSHB National Champion twice as “Mature Mare” and is now competing in dressage at Third Level. Brian was on the American Holsteiner Horse Association board for five years and served on the Executive Committee in 201.
